Lowcountry For The Fourth Of July
This is our first year living in the Lowcountry during the Fourth of July.
In the past, we ALWAYS attended a festive parade in the Weston Town Center. This year we plan to enjoy a barbecue here at home and a drive through our neighborhood to view all of the patriotic decorations.
Red, White And Blue Everywhere
When leaving our neighborhood you can see flags and swags everywhere. Since we all have front porches here in the south, this provides the perfect opportunity to decorate with a little red, white and blue.

We are having a very traditional meal with grilled sausages on fresh rolls, homemade coleslaw, baked beans and corn on the cob. What says Americana better than a down home barbecue? Then for a sweet treat we are having watermelon for dessert.
It is so hot and humid here and we are hoping for a nice dry day. We have had a lot of rain lately and are thankful as our lawn and plantings are all thriving. We would however like to be outside and enjoy the day.
Becoming An American Citizen
I became a United States citizen a little over 20 years ago, and this process made me very appreciative of what this country has to offer. Hundreds of us became citizens that day, and it was a long and involved process to get to that point. It was such an emotional day when we drove down to Miami for the swearing-in ceremony. I remember it like it was yesterday.
It truly is possible to fulfill your dreams and to create a beautiful life here in this country. Everyone has a different path, but accomplishing the American Dream is within reach for so many.
We are so proud to be Americans and appreciate all that this country has to offer. We celebrate all of our blessings and are thankful for those that have made sacrifices to keep us free and safe.
On A Lighter Note – How About A Game Of Croquet?
Maybe we will get out the croquet set and set up our backyard for a game or two. A little iced tea would be a good idea to keep us cool as we battle for the win. Or perhaps a cool and crisp Sauvignon Blanc would be a good choice.

Happy Fourth Of July to all of you from us at Luxe du Jour!
