It’s Thirsty Thursday and we are always attempting to find the perfect libation here at Luxe du Jour. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.
Thankfully, we get a little help from our friends. Can you imagine if we were constantly trying different cocktail combinations in addition to our love for wine?
Anyway, this special cocktail is from a highly creative gal who just happens to be my dear friend’s youngest daughter (we call her Baby Girl). She is just full of wonderment, creativity and has a true “zest for life”. We just love spending time with her and enjoying her incredible energy.
Baby Girl recently launched a fantastic food blog entitled Good Fellows Kitchen. You will love the vibe, and the recipes are featured so well with step-by-step prep instructions. You should definitely check out Good Fellows Kitchen for some great foodie inspiration.
Ok, back to the cocktail — this “classic” is simple, yet the flavors complex. It’s a gin martini with pizzazz! And, the color is just so gorgeous.
The combination of the herbal chartreuse, with the zesty lime, is unlike any combination we have ever tasted.

The Last Word cocktail is believed to have been developed during Prohibition at the Detroit Athletic Club. So, since we grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, it could be considered our local cocktail of choice. And, the Detroit Athletic Club is still in full operation. The club was founded in 1887 and remains one of the top-rated athletic clubs in the country. The DAC is a unique treasure right in the heart of the city.
