Happy New Year! This is the time that we all make resolutions and decide to make changes in our lives.
After a full holiday schedule, we are getting back to OUR normal. We have enjoyed many a libation and decadent meal throughout the season…and loved every minute.
Classic Cocktail Recipe Book
We know that today is “Thirsty Thursday”, however, instead of providing you with a cocktail recipe (we are drying out right now), we would like to share one of our favorite cocktail books. Glamorous Cocktails by William Yeoward is a great resource. What makes this a “must-have” is that the cocktails are special concoctions from iconic London bars. Many of the cocktails are traditional, and some are signature cocktails from places like the Connaught Bar or served at The Savoy.
So, now I am ready to take a look at some other new and fun books that I received over the holidays or for my recent birthday.
Since we love cooking and dining at home, we are always looking for healthy and delicious recipes. And, we were lucky to receive a couple of fun additions to our cookbook collection this past year.
Our LOVE Of Eataly – New Recipe Book
If you have followed Luxe du Jour over the last year or so, you know that I LOVE Eataly. It’s the ultimate food emporium featuring all things Italian. They have locations throughout the US and in several European locations. One of my dear friends knows how much I love Eataly and gave me their cookbook for my birthday. It is called Contemporary Eataly Italian Cooking. I plan to find some fun recipes and share them with you on the blog throughout 2020.
If You Are Looking For Longevity – Luxe du Jour Has The Book For You
Another great book is The Blue Zones Kitchen by Dan Buettner. This book features recipes that are proven to help us live a healthy life and live to 100. The book features 100 recipes to live to 100. The “zones” that are featured in the book profess that lifestyle and eating healthfully will create longevity. Places like Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda all have individuals living well into their 100s. My friends G & G gave me this book for my birthday and it is very interesting to me to discover ways to not only live longer but to maintain optimum health.
I thumbed through and saw that all of the recipes in The Blue Zone book are either plant-based, include whole grains and many include different legumes.
It seems that it would be difficult for us to completely transform our diets to this way of eating, however, it would be a good thing to incorporate more of these items into our diet or include a couple of days of plant-based dining. Once I have selected and tested some of the recipes, I will post them on Luxe du Jour for your enjoyment.
We still enjoy fish, shellfish, chicken and the occasional pork chop. The hubs enjoys a good steak periodically and is really very flexible when it comes to our menus. So, he will be trying some of these interesting items within the next few months.
As always, we will continue to plan our menus every week. When planning, I will refer to these great new books for inspiration and add some new additions to our repertoire.
Happy and healthy 2020!
