It is always interesting to discover what motivates someone to “zhush” his or her décor. Adding florals is a great way to create a luxe environment, and can inspire other changes.
You can also opt to change a table setting, switch out decorative items, change throw pillows, or like I did — just add some gorgeous blooms, and few fun items to our breakfast table.
A friend has been sending us amaryllis plants during the Christmas holiday for several years, and we love them! We replant them in our garden, and they bloom several times per year. This was my INSPIRATION. Sometimes we bring them inside, and use them to enhance our décor. This time I placed the flowers in a large white ceramic pitcher and added some fresh ivy for additional interest.
A great resource to find a huge variety of amaryllis is White Flower Farm. You can just go online to order whatever variety appeals to you. I have never seen so many different plants, and such a variety of baskets and planters that hold these gorgeous botanicals.

When the hubs brought in a gorgeous stem of pink variegated amaryllis, I just could not resist changing the entire color scheme and “look” of our breakfast table to make the flowers the star of the show.
It’s great to add fresh pastels, as it really says “spring is here” to me. I also added some garden touches with some small terracotta pots, a sweet bird salt and pepper set, a cloche and a miniature garden finial. So cute!

Although our herb garden is not very big, we have enough room to grow a bounty of basil, sage, Italian parsley, lemon thyme, thyme, oregano, mint and rosemary to enhance our recipes. We don’t exactly have a cutting garden, but we do add a few flowers for interest and enjoyment.

What inspires you? How often do you change things up? I would love to hear any creative ways that you freshen up your home.
Until then, keep on decorating…
