It’s been a while since we posted on Luxe du Jour. Wait until you hear what we have been up to. The last several weeks have been a very busy time full of life-changing decisions.
With all of the happenings in the world, we decided it was time to slow down our pace and make some changes.
Although we were planning to remain in our beautiful South Florida home for a few more years, we had an epiphany about 6 weeks ago and decided to put our house on the market. The interest rates are at an all-time low for buyers to take advantage of and the market is strong in our area.
Not knowing how this would all work out we spruced up a few things around here and listed with our friend and realtor extraordinaire, Liz.
Now, Where Do We Go?
To our surprise, the house sold in under two weeks. YIKES!
Now what?
We considered several areas a bit further north in Florida, but nothing really wowed us. Then, we decided to check out the Hilton Head area. Since we have been there several times throughout the years, it seemed like a good option.
Florida Or South Carolina – Decisions Decisions
Our friends from our previous neighborhood in Barrington, Illinois have lived there for over 30 years and another couple from our Barrington days are also moving there. How great is it that our friend is also our realtor and knows the area better than anyone. It was perfect to know that we were in good hands and that he knew what we were looking for.
We enjoyed a traditional low country shrimp boil overlooking the Colleton River at our friend’s home. The setting was perfect and the sunset was spectacular. Not to mention, the shrimp boil was delish and the company was perfect!

Now we need to determine where we want to live. There are so many great options to choose from. On the island, off-island, beach club community, country club, new property, or established neighborhood.
Bluffton Or Bust
Well, we knew right away what fit our needs and fell in love with Bluffton. It is just off of Hilton Head Island and is a charming and growing community. We looked at many areas and decided on Colleton River Club.

This just happens to be where our friends already live. There are 2 golf courses with gorgeous clubhouses, a lovely pool, tennis courts, and miles of scenic trails. Also, there is a wonderful boat dock where you can launch your kayaks or boats.
Colleton River Club
Colleton River Club is only a short drive to Savannah, Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Charleston. The town of Bluffton is so charming and has lots of great restaurants to choose from.
Old Town Bluffton Inn – The Perfect Home Away From Home!
We stayed at the Old Town Bluffton Inn while we were there. It is a combination of historical charm and elegance. Since we arrived a bit late on our first night, we were greeted and offered a glass of wine or a beer as a nightcap.
There are only 14 rooms and each is decorated with a French, chic flair. Each room is specially designed by French Heritage that is famous for its beautifully crafted French-inspired style. Every detail was simply perfect. Can I say GORGEOUS?!
The living room where you enter the inn is so cozy and inviting that you just must spend some quality time there with a good book and perhaps a sweet tea. There is a nice front porch where you can also relax and take in the Bluffton “scene”. This is the perfect spot for a pre-dinner glass of wine (or two).
Everyone that we encountered at the inn was gracious and helpful. They all knew that we were in the area looking for a home and were with us every step of the way. When we found out that our bid on the house in Colleton River was accepted they were so excited for us.
If you are EVER visiting this area, you must stay at this beautiful inn. It really is a special and unique place. You feel like you are guests in a gracious home right in the center of town.
Exploring The Area
We did have some time to do some exploring. We had a delicious breakfast at The French Bakery and Bistro in Hilton Head. They have a nice outdoor area and we loved the food. Fishcamp on Broad Creek was a great choice for a late afternoon nosh. The fish tacos were so fresh and yummy and they even had live music overlooking the creek.

A couple of days when we were there, the hubs golfed with our friend at Colleton River. My friend Anna and I decided to explore Palmetto Bluff before meeting up with the guys for dinner. Palmetto Bluff is such a cute town and there is a Paris Market and Brocante shop there that is a second location to their larger shop in Savannah. We LOVE the shop in Savanah and wanted to check out this shop. They have lots of great coffee table books, candles, unique jewelry, and great gifts.
After a short stop for a snack and a little shopping, we met the guys for dinner at The Pearl Kitchen and Bar. They serve great low country cuisine and there is a great outdoor dining porch. LOVED the fried green tomatoes!
Needless to say, we are so excited and looking forward to relocating to this beautiful area.
Our new home sits up high with a panoramic view of a salt marsh. Floor to ceiling windows and low country charm is abundant in our home. We can hardly wait to make it our own and to incorporate some coastal decor into each room.

There are so many magazines and inspirational decorating features that will inspire our new look. Even here in Florida, we have begun to add a few touches.
Beginning A New Chapter
Change is good when the time is right…and now is the time for us to begin our new chapter. Join us on our journey to make Bluffton, South Carolina our home. Stay tuned….
Can’t wait y’all!
How wonderful for you guys! Of course, disappointed that you won’t be moving here but that sounds much better – nothing better than reuniting with friends and it sound like you guys are going to have just the best time creating new memories! It sounds like a wonderful place.
