We are looking forward to spending time this weekend honoring those that sacrificed for our freedom. Thankfully, it looks like the weather will cooperate, and we can spend some time outdoors.

I became a United States citizen a little over 20 years ago, and this process made me very appreciative of what this country has to offer. Hundreds of us became citizens that day, and it was a long and involved process to get to that point. It was such an emotional day when we drove down to Miami for the swearing-in ceremony. I remember it like it was yesterday.
It truly is possible to fulfill your dreams and to create a beautiful life here in this country. Everyone has a different path, but accomplishing the American Dream is within reach for so many.
Our plan this weekend is to enjoy being outside on our patio, go on a biking excursion, and possibly have a picnic in the park. And to remember.
Every year the hubs puts flags all over the front yard, and in the planters on the patio. I got some new flags for this year, as the ones he had were starting to look a bit shabby. It’s his tradition to do this in the morning of Memorial Day, and I love it!

On Memorial Day we usually prepare barbequed ribs, with coleslaw, and corn on the cob, or we make a stovetop clambake. It will depend on what looks good at the market tomorrow.
Hopefully, you will find some inspiration to decorate your home for the upcoming holiday weekend. We will probably dine on the patio, but I did change up the breakfast table with a little red, white, and blue, too.
Great read with inspiration to decorate, celebrate, and appreciate the bounty our country offers. Thank you.
Thank you Kristina for your kind words. I love changing things up for the season or holidays. Have a fantastic Memorial Day! If you are interested in checking out my blog, I send out an email about one time per week letting you know that there is something new. http://www.luxedujour.com
